Bots Vs Bureaucrats = Recursive Email Bill for £202.50

Continuing with the comical dealings with Local Authorities around the U.K…

What happens when you ask a Council to answer a question and they email you back saying that they charge money to answer that question, except they fail to quote the original address, so now you are faced with having to ask them ANOTHER QUESTION as to what question you asked before!..

And what happens when you write a program that does all this for you and leave it running?

The answer: A recursive question about a question that would cost £202.50 to answer by its ninth generation!.  This is what happened- emails summarized below:

Bot: ##Original question here## regarding site #147 #Address Here##

Response from L.A.: ‘Please note there is a fee required to answer this question.  Please send a cheque for £22.50 made payable to blahblahblah…’

Bot:  To what site does this email refer? please quote my original reference number or address of the site so i may process this, Regards,

(UT OH! Bot asked another question!.. NVM surely they wont be dumb enough to send the same response back…)

Response from L.A.: ‘Please note there is a fee required to answer this question.  Please send a cheque for £22.50 made payable to blahblahblah…’

(GAHHH! So if i send the cheque now will they answer the question or will they answer the question about the question!?  #myheadhurts…  better just ask again..)

Bot:  To what site does this email refer? please quote my original reference number or address of the site so i may process this, Regards,

Response from L.A.: ‘Please note there is a fee required to answer this question.  Please send a cheque for £22.50 made payable to blahblahblah…’

OMFG im racking up a bill!  Help me jeeeeeezus!

And so it continues… by generation 9 im thinking.. ‘so what happens if i died and left my computer on?’… In 1000 years i will have amassed a bill for £8,212,500.00 and some poor fucker has to work through 365,000 emails to work out what the original question was!..  This is the age of ridiculousness we now live in.  Oh well at least i’ve ‘Created Jobs’ and ‘Stimulated Economic Growth’ :) #spamwillsavetheworld
